In December, 2002, AHAC helped to organize a press conference inside Utah's Capitol Building to challenge Utah's Legislature to restore Medicaid funding. During the next three months AHAC members called their state legislators throughout the legislative session and also helped to organize three other events to challenge legislators on this issue. By the end of the legislative session, in March 2003, the legislators had stopped talking about making new cuts to Medicaid and actually restored some of the money they had cut from the program the year before.
